yume/selfshipping term glossary


yumeship: when someone ships themselves/sona/self insert x fictional character
selfship: someone who ships themselves/self insert/oc/etc x fictional character (umbrella term)
yume: same as yumeshipper, but i've also seen it used as a verb for the act of yumeshipping and a noun for someones f/o
yumejoshi: a feminine term for a yumeshipper
yumedanshi: a masculine term for a yumeshipper
yumejin: a gender neutral term for a yumeshipper
f/o (fictional other): the fictional character that a yumeshipper ships themselves with
oshi: someone who is especially devoted to a specific character or idol, not necessarily a yume term
s/i (self insert): a character representative of the creators personality and traits (does not have to look like the creator)
oc (original character): a character created by somebody, does not have to be representative of the self
yumesona: a persona that someone uses to represent themselves specifically for their yumeship, may or may not look like the creator and usually carries the same personality traits and identity
doubles: a yumeshipper that has the same f/o as another yumeshipper
nonsharing: when someone dislikes seeing/interacting with people that have the same f/o
voidsharing: someone who simply refuses to believe doubles exist and blocks on sight
semisharing/selective sharing: when someone has specific people that they're okay with having the same f/o
sharing: when someone is fine with having the same f/o as someone else
mirror sharing: when somebody's sharing status reflects the person they're interacting with
fidelity list: a list of yumeships that someone considers canon/true (usually a person acknowledging their oomfs as the rightful partner of a character)
romantic: a yumeship that is a romantic relationship
familial: a yumeship that is a familial relationship (father/mother/sister/brother/etc)
platonic: a yumeship that is a platonic relationship (friends)
riako: a female or feminine-aligned person that is serious about their relationship with their f/o as an irl relationship
gachikoi: same as riako, but gender neutral
soulbo(u)nd: when a yumeshipper and their f/o have an involuntary connection and can communicate through some means
